Musculoskeletal (MSK) pain may be experienced in soft tissue structures such as muscles, joints, ligaments, or nerves.
People who experience MSK pain may be anybody from elite athletes, to weekend warriors, and even those who do not participate in any sport or exercise; however, they all have one thing in common - pain that is affecting their daily activities.
If this is you, then you may benefit from a MSK assessment by our Specialist Podiatrists. An assessment will involve detailed problem solving in order to determine which specific structures are painful, and how you are using these structures in your daily activities.
This may include the following:
- analysis of joint movement;
- muscle strength/power;
- stress testing of muscles/ligaments/joints/nerves; and,
- stance and gait (walking/running) analysis.
This information will be used by the Specialist Podiatrist so that a detailed treatment plan can be created which suits your daily life and the challenges you are facing due to your MSK pain.
A treatment plan may involve one or more of the following:
- Orthotic (insole therapy);
- footwear advice;
- exercise therapy;
- temporary modifications to your activities;
- injection therapy;
- further referral for assessments or treatment by other MSK professionals, e.g. Physiotherapists.
